On May 11, local time, the unit No. 3 of the Dubai Hassyan 4X600,000kW clean coal-fired project, designed by Energy China Northeast Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd. and constructed by Energy China TEPC, were successfully connected to the grid on first try. The system parameters of the units were normal, the equipment was running smoothly and the running quality was excellent.
As a major international cooperation project of the "Belt and Road" initiative, the project is the first clean coal-fired power station in the Middle East, and the first in the world to achieve full-load power supply with either coal or gas fuel. The total installed capacity is 2400 MW, with the ability to achieve 100% output on either coal or natural gas, thus fully meet the supply of different fuels, and improve the power plant's adaptability. Units 1 and 2 have been synchronized to the grid on May 18, 2020 and on May 3, 2021, respectively. By 2023, when all four units are put into commercial operation, they will not only provide 20% of the electric energy for Dubai, but also greatly reduce the electricity cost of local residents.
