On September 17, 2023 and November 27, 2023, Jahid Hasan Tuhin (Hou Jie in Chinese), a local engineer of the Patuakhali Thermal Power Plant project in Bangladesh, won the Gold Award for short video and the Photography Award at the two cultural events of the “Belt and Road” construction respectively. Hou Jie won the Gold Award for his short video “Bearer of Bangladesh & China Friendship” in the “Culture of Silk Road” Creative Design Competition co-organized by World Affairs Publishing House Ltd. and Xi’an University of Finance and Economics. The video depicts his work, life and activities in the project in honest language, expresses his love for the project, brings the viewers to experience the excitement of the project construction from his daily life, and shows the evolving environment brought by the construction of “Belt and Road”, which reflects the friendship between Chinese and Bangladeshi people.

At the Art and Photography Exhibition of the 10th Anniversary of China’s “Belt and Road” Initiative, jointly organized by the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh and the China Bangladesh Alumni Association, Hou Jie exhibited his photograph of “Local Student Friendly Enjoy Drone Flying - Patuakhali 1320 MW Thermal Power Plant” in the exhibition. It shows the two countries’ people getting along and learning from each other, and presents the unity between Chinese and Bangladeshi employees, which is an expression of the harmonious relationship between them in the project of Patuakhali Thermal Power Plant in Bangladesh. 

The Patuakhali Thermal Power Plant project, general contracted by CEEC-TEPC, is located in Patuakhali, Barisal district, southern Bangladesh, with an installed capacity of 1320 MW. While promoting the project with high quality, we attach great importance to cross-cultural exchanges, focusing on cultural exchanges with the local people, constructing the “China Pavilion” with high standards, organizing and hosting wonderful carnivals, art festivals and other activities, which have led to the emergence of Lisa, the “Dreamer” who is the friendship narrator of the relationship between China and Bangladesh, and Nasim, the top 10 expatriate staff of the year of Energy China 2020, and so on.
