Recently, Unit 1 of Iraqi Al-Amarah Electrical Power Station Combined Cycle Expansion Project was successfully connected to the grid for the first time.
Located in Missan Governorate in southern Iraq, the project converted four 9E class single-cycle power plants into combined-cycle power plants, increasing the power generation capacity of the existing power plants from 500 MW (4×125 MW) to 750 MW (4×125 MW+2×125 MW). After the completion of the project, the problem of Iraq's power shortage will be further solved and the power generation efficiency of the original power plant will be improved.
